The Andrology Lab, a member lab of the Department of Pathology , provides wide range of diagnostic tests of male infertility, including:
Complete semen analysisThe Andrology Lab is registered under CLIA and the New York State Department of Health. All tests are performed following guidelines established by the World Health Organization, in the WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination of Human Semen and Sperm-Cervical Mucus Interaction.
Sperm antibody testing of men and women
Sperm function testing, including the zona-free hamster egg penetration assay.
Semen Cryopreservation: In cases where one's work schedule makes it difficult for the male partner to be available for artificial insemination, semen of good quality can be frozen and stored for up to 6 months. It can then be available as a back-up for intrauterine insemination, at the time of ovulation.
All results are reviewed by Dr. Richard Bronson, the Laboratory Director, before they are reported to the referring physician. Dr. Bronson is internationally recognized for his pioneering work and research on immunologic infertility and the molecular basis of successful fertilization.
